The need to protect every beneficiary of development projects cannot be emphasized. Development projects such as rural/feeder roads, construction of dams, among others, are all likely to affect the economic livelihoods of the very people these interventions are meant to protect, leading to grievances.
Grievance is an issue, concern, problem, or claim (perceived or actual) that an individual or community group wants a company or contractor to address and resolve.

Company/Project-Community Grievance is a locally based, formalized way to accept, assess, and resolve community complaints concerning the performance or behaviour of a company, project, its contractors, or employees.

According the World Bank, grievance mechanisms (GRMs) are increasingly important for development projects where ongoing risks or adverse impacts are anticipated. They serve as a way to meet requirements, prevent and address community concerns, reduce risk, and assist larger processes that create positive social change. Recognizing this, and noting a lack of effective alternatives, development projects, companies and communities are becoming more proactive in their efforts to design and build more effective strategies for addressing community grievances. This is where we come in.

The Team of experts at The Economic Forum have the knowledge and experience to develop and monitor GRMs not only for development projects but for mining and construction companies and other areas.
